Divergent

I just started reading my book Divergent by Veronica Ross and after only a few chapters it leaves me wanting to read more. So far my main character Beatrice is about to take her aptitude test, this test will determine whether she will stay in her faction or change to a different one. There are 5 different factions Abnegation, Candor, Dauntless, Erudite, and Amity. In Beatrice's current faction Abnegation which practices the art of selflessness she is very unhappy. She longs for more, she thinks 'differently' than her other family members. This conflict leaves me even more intrigued to read because I am curious to see whether she will decide to stay in her faction with her family or leave her family and go to a different faction to pursue a different practice. I am so excited to continue reading my book!

    This book seems really interesting and enjoyable! From this short little explanation it makes me want to start the book! Would you recommend it? Have you seen the movie? DO you no if there similar? Let me no how you like the book when your done!

      I loved the book so I would definately recommend it to you and the movie sadly doesn't come out untill 2014 :(

    I'm reading this book too! It is really good so far and I think you wrote a really accurate, descriptive and overall good blog review of the book! What do you think you would do? Leave your family? Or leave and go to a different faction?

      I honestly think I would stay with my family because I just don't think i could bare the thought of being away from them! And thats awesome! :)

    What are the other factions ideals, also, which faction is she wanting to be in?

      Well I can't tell you that because if I did it would spoil the book so I guess you will just have to read it in order to find out ;) And the faction ideals are Abnegation-selflessness, Erudite-knowledge, Dauntless-courage, Amity-peace, Candor-truth.

    What has to occur for her to be able to go to a different faction? Are the placements of you in your faction pre determined or inherited? Sounds interesting

      They are a little of both for example a lot of people stay in their factions because thats how they were raised and that type of way and or thinking is almost inherited from their parents, but if you don't like your faction you have the choice to leave. In the choosing ceremony you sprinkle your blood over one of the 5 factions to determine where you want to be but you also take a test to see where you would most 'fit in'.
